Experience R&B Legends Live with TicketPurchase.com

Performer Information

Few bands in R&B and pop have left as indelible a mark as New Edition. Formed in 1978 in Boston, Massachusetts, the group helped shape the blueprint for modern boy bands and continues to draw fans to every New Edition tour. Founding members Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, Bobby Brown, Ronnie DeVoe, and Ralph Tresvant launched the group’s rise with their youthful energy and harmonies, later welcoming Johnny Gill in 1987. Early hits like “Candy Girl” brought mainstream attention and set the stage for decades of influence.

New Edition’s legacy shines through industry honors and generational impact. The group has earned two American Music Awards (1987, 1997) and a Soul Train Award (1989), while inspiring acts from Boyz II Men to New Kids on the Block. Their sound blends smooth vocal harmonies, catchy pop hooks, and danceable R&B grooves—evolving into new jack swing and mature contemporary R&B as their career progressed.

Current Band Members

• Ricky Bell — Vocals

A founding member, Ricky Bell has been a steady presence since day one. He’s also known for his work with Bell Biv DeVoe and remains a cornerstone of New Edition’s signature harmonies and stage chemistry.

• Michael Bivins — Vocals

Michael Bivins co-founded the group and later helped launch Bell Biv DeVoe. Beyond the mic, he’s made a mark as a music executive and producer, bringing a sharp creative vision to the group’s evolution.

• Bobby Brown — Vocals

One of the original members, Bobby Brown departed in 1985 to pursue a successful solo career—famous for hits like “My Prerogative”—and later rejoined. His charisma and unmistakable voice add electricity to every New Edition concert.

• Ronnie DeVoe — Vocals

Ronnie DeVoe, a founding member, also helped power Bell Biv DeVoe’s success. Active in music and real estate, he brings smooth vocals and showmanship to the group’s dynamic stage routines.

• Johnny Gill — Vocals

Joining in 1987, Johnny Gill ushered in a more mature sound for New Edition. His powerful, soulful delivery has anchored some of the group’s most enduring performances and recordings.

• Ralph Tresvant — Vocals

A founding member and the group’s lead singer, Ralph Tresvant is known for his smooth tenor voice. His distinctive tone and feel for melody help define New Edition’s timeless appeal.

New Edition’s catalog is packed with fan favorites—“Candy Girl,” “Cool It Now,” “Mr. Telephone Man,” “If It Isn’t Love,” and “Can You Stand the Rain” remain staples. Albums like Heart Break and Home Again showcase their evolution from teen sensations to sophisticated R&B hitmakers, while their early work captures the bright, youthful spark that first won over fans.

On stage, New Edition delivers a high-energy, nostalgia-rich experience—tight choreography, coordinated looks, live band backing, and wall-to-wall hits. Their synchronized dancing, crowd interaction, and medleys turn every performance into a celebration of R&B history and feel-good showmanship.
