Experience Beloved Improv & Character-Comedy Star Live with TicketPurchase.com

Performer Information

Mary Holland is a solo comedian from Los Angeles, California, known for improv, character work, and sketch-style character monologues—often performed in audio and podcast settings. Active since the mid-2000s, she’s built a long-running presence in alt-comedy and improv, with a strong association to Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre (UCB) in Los Angeles. If you love comedy that’s built on fully committed characters and sharp, in-the-moment choices, Mary Holland brings that energy in a way that feels spontaneous and specific.

A big part of Holland’s comedy footprint comes from her recurring guest and character performer appearances on the Earwolf podcast Comedy Bang! Bang! and other comedy podcasts. She’s also appeared on notable TV series, including Blunt Talk (Starz) (2015–2016), where she portrayed Shelly, and she appeared on Veep (2012–2019). In animation, she’s appeared on Bob’s Burgers as a guest voice—another great fit for her character-forward style.

On screen, Holland has appeared in wide-release studio comedy features including Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates (2016), and she appeared in Unfrosted (2024). Across podcast, TV, film, and live rooms, she’s widely recognized as a “character/performance” comedian—someone who excels at heightened choices, playful specificity, and quick improvisational pivots that land like mini-sketches.

Live, Mary Holland is often best experienced in improv settings where her character choices, group dynamics, and scene-building can escalate organically. Rather than relying on direct crowd-work stand-up, her interaction tends to come through listening, prompts, and fast, reactive improvisation—perfect for fans who want comedy that unfolds in real time.
